I put together these quotes shortly after 9/11/01. In the selection process, I sought to reflect a variety of cultures and spiritual viewpoints. I admit to a slight leaning towards those reflecting the idea that peace IS the way. My intention is not to preach to anyone OR to make anyone who doesn't share those specific beliefs feel excluded. The visitors to Beyond the Rainbow and newsletter subscribers hold a range of opinions. We share a desire to expand emotionally and spiritually. My desire is that the quotations I have chosen may stimulate that growth.
Some of the quotations I chose mention "God." From my point of view, they might also have mentioned "Goddess," "All That Is," "Source Energy" or "Universal Love." At Beyond the Rainbow we have a broad appreciation of what constitutes Spirit. To reflect this, I have also included some prayers from the Druidic tradition.
I apologize that there aren't more quotations by women. Time restrictions prevented me from searching more deeply, but if I do this again, I intend to make up for the lack.
There are 31 quotes here, one for each day of the month of October. However, I have not ordered them necessarily with the idea that they should be used consecutively.
I have been scanning them until I see one that feels appropriate to whatever focus I want or need for a particular day. Then I meditate on the particular quotation and perhaps copy it on a piece of paper, carry it around with me and look at it periodically.
If you like the idea of selected quotations serving as the focus for some future newsletters, please let me know. If you have a favorite quotation, please send it to me.
