Skunk:
Reputation,
Self-Esteem

skunk

I share my land with a variety of animals, including skunks. They generally appear around dusk, and if I'm going from the house to the Beyond the Rainbow office (in the garage), I look first. If I see a skunk at the edge of the property, it's safe to move. If one is near the house I wait.

It's not that I'm afraid of the skunk. I am, however, respectful of its reputation.

Skunks are confident and unafraid. My neighbors stroll through the back yard, their thick beautiful tails flowing behind them. Viewed through eyes of appreciation and respect, they are striking and beautiful creatures.

I once saw a nature film depicting a juvenile bear who thought it would be fun to play with a skunk. The skunk didn't run away. With its power, it didn't need to.

Its power also allows it to be peaceful, and this skunk gave the bear some chances to reconsider. As its first warning, it stamped its feet. The elevation of its tail was its second warning. When the bear failed to pay attention, the skunk aimed and fired, then slowly strolled away, leaving a very unhappy bear in its wake.

Skunk has many lessons to teach us about our relationships with ourselves and others. When our sense of self is clear and confident, when we accept ourselves as we are, we have no need for verbal or physical aggression. We don't need to try to make people like us; we don't need to attempt to impress them.

Some people will be vibrationally attracted to the energy we naturally attract. Others will be repelled. Attraction doesn't make us good people, and repulsion doesn't make us bad. It is all simply a matter of preference.

Skunk further teaches the lesson of the saying, "I only meet myself." If (as I believe) we attract people based on the kind of energy we're radiating, it makes sense to study who we attract in order to learn what we projecting.

Are there a lot of needy people in your life? Are you projecting need -- including the need to be needed? Are people critical of you? You may find you're overly critical of yourself.

Align with Skunk medicine to walk tall, head (or tail) held high. And remember this: the sweetest fragrance is that of self-appreciation.

Skunk in available in power stones.
