Spider:

The conscientious housekeeper, upon seeing a spider web, may reach for a broom and destroy what appears to be a sign of uncleanliness. A child, watching a spider weaving its web, may be mesmerized by the delicate, magical tapestry it is creating.
The web is the same, but the eyes of the beholders see it in very different ways.
This is the magic of Spider medicine.
To weave is to (among its other functions) to join separate strands of fabric into an integrated pattern, and Spider is the master weaver.
Though weaving is no longer a familiar task in most of our lives, Spider remains a significant reminder of a more subtle art: that we are constantly weaving the fabric of our lives.
Unlike Spider we are not always able to consciously both create and travel through our creations. Nor do we have Spider's ability to see our lives as a whole. So often we experience conflict in our lives, not knowing how to integrate desires and paths which seem in opposition to each other.
Here is the beauty of Spider medicine. When we attune to the energy of the Weaver we begin to see that many of the inner dividing walls that seem to separate aspects of our lives are not as solid as they appear. We discover that by looking at things differently barriers can disappear, and we can see our lives in a more integrated way.
We see also that the webs we weave need not be sources of entanglement, but a network of roads to travel.
Spider brings us to even deeper integration through its association with the spiral, the basic symbol of universal energy, and the figure eight (physically related to the spider's shape) the symbol for infinity. In contemplating Spider we realize that we are connected to all life, and that there is no past and no future, only the infinite now.
